Description
Summary:The growth of megrim (Lepidorhombus boscii) in northeast Atlantic waters (ICES divisions VIIchjk, VIIIab, VIIIc and IXa) was analysed using length distributions at age and growth curve parameters. Significant differences were found in length at age between four years analysed (1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994) and also between zones in the same year. Growth rates were higher in northern Galician waters (subdivision VIIIc1) followed by those of the adjacent areas in southern Galician waters (subdivision IXa2) and in the Bay of Biscay (divisions VIIIab and VIIIc2). Females grow faster than males and also reach the greatest lengths and age. No important differences were found regarding depth. 2
