The Poultry Science Broiler Research Award winner was H. W. (Bud) Hulan of the Research Station Agriculture Canada, Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada. The award is contributed by the Broiler Council and consists of $1,500 and a plaque. It is given for distinctive research work that has a strong economic impact on the Broiler Industry. Hulan was born at Jeffreys, Newfoundland, Canada. His education progressed from graduation from a one classroom school to obtaining a B.S. (agriculture) and M.S. (nutritional biochemistry) from McGill University. He received a Ph.D. degree (nutritional biochemistry) from the University of Maine.
