Description
Summary:Six isolates of Kemerovo group orbiviruses were recovered from 24 lots of adult female Ixodes uriae (136 specimens) collected from Common Puffin ( Fratercula arctica ) colonies in the Faeroe Islands during July and August 1974. Two undescribed serotypes (designated Tindholmur and Mykines viruses) were detected among the isolates by neutralization tests. Tindholmur virus (prototype strain DenAr 2) was recovered from 2 lots of ticks collected in Tindholmur; 4 strains of Mykines virus (prototype strain DenAr 12) were isolated from 2 lots of I. uriae from Tindholmur and 2 from Mykines.
