Summary:The life stages and life history of Rhynchagrotis cupida (Crote) are described. The species over winters as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th instars and has I generation each year. Head-capsule measurements show 6 larval stages. The species ranges eastward from Newfoundland, westward to western Washington, northward to Northwest Territories, Canada, and southward to Kerrville, Texas. Its recorded host plants are apple, peach, grape, and possibly blueberry. Only 1 outbreak of this species is recorded ―in Ohio―in 1924.
