Description
Summary:An evaluation is made of relative teleseismic P -wave delays between stations in Iceland and EKA (Scotland), KIR (Sweden) and KTG (Greenland). A detailed analysis of possible sources of error including the use of array data to detect the onset of events, shows there is a delay of at least 1 s associated with the upper mantle beneath Iceland. The delay does not appear to vary with distance or azimuth, and shows little variations over Iceland itself.
