Description
Summary:The influence of Electromagnetic fields (EMF), Geomagnetic storms (GMS), Intensity of cosmic radiation, Forbush-effect, Gradient of the potentials in atmosphere, Gravitational field of the Earth and thunderstorms on the cardiovascular system (CVS)- has been experimentally investigated in rats, rabbits and dogs. Clinical and medical archives' materials were analyzed as well. The effects of EMFs of different strength (0.5 to 5000 Oersted) and nature on function and structure of the CVS were experimentally studied. CVS was negatively affected by drastic and aperiodical alteration of horizontal component of EMF, pulsative EMF and frequent changes in EMF polarity: The ECG signs of different arrhythmias, myocardial ischemia and necrosis were common, the threshold of cardiac excitation decreased significantly, and adrenalo-sympathetic system showed enhanced activity. The heart was more affected if the North Pole of the EMF happened to be located to the right of the chest. Above changes were aggravated if the experimental animals were limited in motion. During 2 solar cycles: from 1980 to 1991 and 1992–2003 years we analyzed the data of 1905 patients with ischemic heart disease and arterial hypertension. 600 of these patients were treated in specially designed magneto compensated wards. Data of 54 728 pathologo-anatomical sections from the Tbilisi State Archives and reports of 368 889 cardiologic ambulance visits were analyzed together with the environmental records from the Georgian Institute of Geophysics. Analyses of data leads us to conclusion, that: A. There is a strong correlation between the EMF, violent GMS and severe disturbances of cardiac rhythms, aggravation of the course of cardiac ischemia and hypertension, increase in frequency of strokes, myocardial infarctions and lethal outcomes. B.These aggravations usually begin 2–3 days prior to the appearence of GMS. C.The effect of GMS may depend on position and mobility of the patient; D.The negative influence of the GMS on the clinical condition of the patients ...
