Description
Summary:The dissertation in hand focuses on the Arctic as a region which is coming dynamically to the forefront, attracting great interest not only by climate researchers, but by the actors and researchers of the (geo)political and economic stage. It’s not uncommon during research to come across the dilemma of whether politics follows economy or vice versa. This however is a pseudo-dilemma, due to their deep interconnection. Categorization of the inability to manage and mitigate climate change as a threat greater than weapons of mass destruction, is indicative of how important developments are. The environment, geopolitics and geoeconomy of the Arctic on the one hand are in flux, while on the other they are the main parameters of its course and it is due to this reason that they are reviewed separately. Geopolitics is the indicated analysis context considering that it uses geography to interpret political developments. States do remain the primary actors of the international system with their ...
