| Summary: | Holograph letter from E.J. Rawlins, 29 Queen's Road, St. John�s [Newfoundland] (Canada), to Hagan, having returned home and found everything as it was seven years ago. He met the [Archbishop] and Monsignor McDermott, the administrator, who both had a very high opinion of Hagan, mostly because of his catechetical work. The latter is from Roscommon and 'a fierce Sinn Feiner'; the [Archbishop] was pleased with Rawlins's views on the Irish question. He has been warned to give up his own Sinn Fein views, however, and although he will not take that advice he asks whether he ought to write a series of articles on the Irish situation as solicited by a Catholic member of parliament; not sure whether Newfoundland has enough weight and aware of needing to step carefully. Through his brother he came into contact with all Catholic members. Enclosing a cheque to clear a debt; mentioning unpaid portions of his pension. Stating he does not know much of the present student for Rome; Mr. Ryan.
