Summary: | The porcellanid crab genus Neopisosoma as presently recognized, is a small and entirely American taxon containing five species; two from the tropical western North Atlantic, and three from the tropical eastern Pacific. The genus was established by Haig in 1960 in order to separate certain species which closely resembled members of the genus Pachycheles, but which differed from that genus in a number of characters, most notably in the structure and number of the fragmented epimera of the carapace.
