Summary:When the short-wave solar radiation reaches Earth's surface some of it is absorbed and warms the surface ofEarth, while most of the rest is radiated back to the atmosphere as a long-wave (thermal or infrared) radiation. This long-wave radiation can be absorbed by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Such absorption provokes the atmosphere warming. The main causes ofglobalwarming are the change in the concentration of natural and human-made gases that cause the greenhouse effect and warm the Earth's surface, bring about the changes of geometry (eccentricity) of Earth's orbit, influences the periodicity of solar radiation and solar perturbations. Global warming leads to the increase of the temperature on Earth, the thermal expansion of ocean water and the rise of the sea level, as well as glacier and ice sheet melting. All these factors provoke the rain changes, too. Changes in temperature and precipitation patterns increase the frequency, duration, and intensity of other extreme weather events, such as floods, droughts, storms, hurricanes and tornadoes. To reduce the risk of substantial changes in future climate, many countries must implement policies designed to reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases. An international forum such as the Copenhagen Climate Summit must establish networks among businesses, individuals and organizations supporting a climate policyfocusing on the environment. Зміна клімату - це коливання клімату Землі в цілому або в окремих ії регіонах протягом тривалого часу. Цей процес супроводжується зміною глобальної температури та опадів завдяки природній мінливості або людській активності. До основних причин, що зумовлюють зміни клімату, можна віднести геометрію та орбітальну варіабельність нашої сонячної системи, сонячні спалахи та шторми, сонячний вітер, ексцентриситет орбіти земної кулі, а також зміни концентрації парникових газів.
