Summary:The appearance of landscapes in polar regions is caused by the development of cryogenic geomorphic processes in the past and at the present time. This work presents an example of the interpretation of cryogenic processes and phenomena revealed in certain neotectonic, geomorphic, and geocryological conditions in the Tazovsky peninsula in the U.S.S.R. On the basis of aerial photographs and space images, interpretation of cryogenic processes and phenomena was determined. Three types of dynamic series were defined: asynchronous (evolutional), synchronous, and mixed type. Tracing these series in nature using remotely sensed data has been carried out by identifying the cryogenic phenomena on high resolution photographs and revealing their role in the formation of landscape morphosculpture. Several peculiarities were revealed in using different types of series for geocryological forecasting. Investigations show that forecasting evaluations of landscape condition dynamics are reliable when complex approaches are used.
