The design and opening philosophy of the facility is to provide system flexibility for maximum capability in solving cold regions engineering problems. including ice jams. ice management at locks and dams. vertical and horizontal ice forces on riverine and marine structures. performance of vessels in riverine and sea ice. ice impact on shorelines and the environment. ice effects on sediment movement. and ice effects on fish.
