Description
Summary:Iran occupies a significant portion of the 12,000-mile Central Barrier of mountains, plateaus, basins, and deserts that stretches across the Eurasian continent from the Pyrenees to Bering Strait. Its importance as part of this Barrier, between the heartland of Eurasia and the southern coastal areas, is as great today as at any time in history. The environment of Iran is discussed in detail in this report, emphasizing those aspects which determine the requirements of ground troops for supplies of clothing, food, shelter, and personal equipment.
