Description
Summary:This paper analyzes the Aleutian Campaign from an operational art perspective. The Aleutians Campaign, despite some major mistakes, is worth studying at the operational level because the lessons learned were put to use in both the Pacific and European theaters later in World War II. Through examining and analyzing the flawed operational leadership and command structure, operational factors (time, space, forces), and specific elements of operational design, the military commander of today can better prepare to meet the operational challenges of tomorrow.
