Summary: | In February and March 1994 the Fort Knox Staff Archeologist and Assistant Staff Archeologist conducted a Phase I archeological survey of a borrow area being used for improvements to the Cedar Creek Airstrip on the Fort Knox Military Reservation, Hardin County, Kentucky. Site 15Hd488 is a multi-component site encompassing an Early Archaic upland open habitation site and a late nineteenth-mid-twentieth century farmstead. A portion of the site had already been destroyed. The site is considered potentially eligible for the National Register. If the installation proposes to expand the borrow pit westward, the remaining portion of the site should be tested prior to earth-moving activities. |
