Description
Summary:As one of the biggest countries in the South Atlantic region, Brazil has geopolitical, economic, and strategic interests with respect to that ocean. These interests can be threatened by a major maritime conflict in the area, especially if it entails an East-West Struggle as the result of the presence of the Soviets in some African countries. By presenting these interests, the possible threats to them, and the Brazilian strategy for dealing with potential threats, the author shows the necessity of giving the Brazilian Air Force a major antisubmarine warfare capability in order to enable it to play the appropriate role in the defense of that maritime area.
