Summary:This paper presents results derived from a study of some 5 million square kilometres of optical survey processed SEASAT-SAR imagery of the Northeast Atlantic. In the study, markings attributed to internal wave activity were collected on maps together with the relevant bathymetry and surface meteorology. Simple analysis techniques have been applied systematically to compare the very large data sets involved. The characteristics of the internal wave features are also discussed.
