Research topics include: (1) interaction of shortwave radiation with the ice and upper ocean, (2) lateral melting and erosion in leads, (3) floe size distribution, (4) optical properties of ice and snow, and (5) ice growth in large leads and polynyhas. Field work was carried out near Prince Patrick Island in the Canadian Arctic and over the ice pack in the Bering Sea.
