Description
Summary:Methods of determining the usable frequencies over a particular auroral subauroral path such that digital data may be sent uncorrupted, are described. Tests took place between April and July 1980 using transmissions between Northern Norway and Southern England. Computer programs were used in order to determine the viability of linearly interpolating the ionospheric propagation parameters from sub-auroral areas to an auroral or polar zone. One of these programs was written for this project and is included. The others are in general use and are, therefore, not listed. It was found that interpolation of the ionospheric parameters over these zones has limited use. (Author)
