Description
Summary:The report covers the existing methods utilized in scaling model data for vessels in ice to the full scale regime. It reviews the properties of model and full scale ice. The main thrust of the report is the development of a procedure for testing vessels in model ice and scaling the results to the full scale regime with an accuracy of plus or minus 10 percent. The second section of the report discusses the design of a test facility to conduct icebreaking and hydrodynamic model tests. All the data collected and utilized are contained in appendices to the report.
