Description
Summary:Seasonal freezing and thawing of rocks in the permafrost zone are examined from the standpoint of geographical, geological, and geocryological factors in connection with construction. In order to facilitate proper planning of construction programs in areas affected by the above-mentioned processes in consideration of year-to-year variations in their conditions, it is suggested that a permafrost chart be formulated which would make it possible to predict the limits of variation of the freezing and thawing processes on a long-term basis.
