Description
Summary:Two methods of re-treating tentage and paulins while erected and under field maintenance shop conditions were evaluated. The two methods tested were re-treatment of tentage and paulins with Mildew Resistant Compound, Textile, Volatile Solvent, MIL-C-13295, Type I, by application of the compound with the standard brush method and by application with standard Corps of Engineers' paint spray outfit using an extension spray gun and nozzle. Tests indicated that the compound may be satisfactorily applied to tentage and paulins by the spray method and brush method in hot, temperate, and cold environments. Tents re-treated under these environments can be placed in re-use and will function satisfactorily immediately after re-treatment or after 30 days of storage following re-treatment. Less man-hours were required to re-treat tentage by the spray method than by the brush method as tentage can be more easily re-treated by the spray method.
