Summary:The study was undertaken by aqualung divers to determine the reserves of commercially utilized seaweeds. Distribution of fauna and flora of the Aynovy Islands area of the western Murmansk region was investigated to a depth of 50 meters. Comparative estimates of the population density (amount of biomass per square meter) are given. Many warm-water species, not usually encountered in these latitudes, were found in this area.
