Summary:The report is part of a series describing the results of a survey of the scientific literature relevant to the physical oceanography, including marine geology, of the Norwegian and Greenland Seas and adjacent areas. The area, is essentially the marine area between latitudes 60 degrees and 80 degrees N, limited to the west by the east coast of Greenland and to the east by the west and north coasts of Norway, the Kola Peninsula and the west coast of Novaya Zemlya. In the north it adjoins the North Polar Sea and in the south the North Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean.
