Summary: | In view of the development of pressiometric techniques of investigating soils, it has become necessary to codify the interpretive rules of this procedure as applied to foundation calculations. An appreciable number of full-scale foundation tests, moreover, have been carried out for experimental purposes on soils whose characteristics have been measured initially by means of the pressiometer. The rules presented are applicable to both the pressiometric investigation itself and to the application of the results obtained to bearing capacity and foundation settlement calculations.
