Description
Summary:The purpose of this investigation was the determination of the development of frost action in subsurface pavement elements as affected by varying conditions of weather, soils, and ground water. The investigation was made to determine the development of frost action in areas having varying winter weather conditions, varying annual precipitation and water tables, together with subsurface soils having an indicated varying susceptibility to frost action under the proper moisture conditions. The scope of this report covers investigations under both flexible and rigid type pavements. Prepared in cooperation with Corps of Engineers, Omaha, Neb. Missouri River Div. See also AD-712 489.
