Description
Summary:In order to develop and improve engineering design criteria for construction of pile foundations in areas of frozen ground, the Arctic Construction and Frost Effects Laboratory is carrying out a program of pile tests at its Fairbanks Research Area on Farm Loop Road near Fairbanks, Alaska. The research program includes study of the manner in which load supporting capacity is developed in piles supported in permafrost and measurement of skin friction and end bearing values under various combinations of conditions.
