Description
Summary:Large parts of the seas, lakes, and rivers of our country are covered with ice for long periods of time, and the Arctic Ocean, almost year round. Ice, floating on the surface of the seas, greatly changes the character of the surface wave action. Many technical problems are related to construction and the operation of hygro-technical facilities, important problems of shipbuilding and navigation under icy conditions, cannot be solved without consideration of the dynamic strength characteristics of the ice cover. The mathematical theory of wave processes developing in the ice cover floating on water under the effect of the forces of gravity, internal forces, is outlined in this book. Such a statement of the problem encompasses both the purely oceanological aspect of the problem and strength problems where the effect of a system of dynamic loads on the ice is examined.
