Description
Summary:This study is based on data collected by the PINRO Expedition during 1958-1960. Altogether 102 samples consisting of some 25,675 specimens or species euphausiids were examined. It appears that 3 zones can be recognized within the sampling area which extends from the N Newfoundland Shelf to the S Slope of Grand Banks: Zone I, the oceanic water on N Newfoundland Shelf and near Labrador: Zone II, the mixed water zone on the NE Slope of Grand Banks, and Zone III, the neritic zone of the SE Slope of Grand Banks. The largest concentration of euphausiids were observed in Zone III. Pronounced seasonal variations in species composition were observed in zones I and II.
