Description
Summary:Questions concerned with the theory and calculation of the strength of hull structures of ships sailing in ice are considered. A method for determining the ice loads which act on a ship's hull as a result of navigation conditions, ice strength and characteristics, ship's hull lines, displacement, and speed in the ice, is presented. Basic methods for calculating internal stresses occurring in hull structure elements as a result of ice loads are presented. Questions concerned with rational designs for these structures are considered. Trans. of mono. Prochnost Sudov, Plavayushchikh vo Ldakh, Leningrad, 1967 p1-222.
