Description
Summary:The benthic sediment deposited at great depths in the oceans in zones where there is very little influence from shore line erosion of sedimentary material have very high concentrations of radium in comparison with continental rock. At the present time, the mechanism of separation of radium from sea and ocean water and its concentration in the benthic sediments is explained by several hypotheses. The purpose of this work is to take the tremendous factual material available and evaluate the correctness of these hypotheses, clarifying the basic regularities and distribution of radium within the oceans.
