Description
Summary:The report discusses ray representation of diffraction effects, shallow and deep water propagation experiment plans and results, acoustical instrumentation advancements, and ambient noise in Arctic waters. In the Physical Oceanography Task Unit, sound velocity profiling in the Mediterranean and the area south of Bermuda are discussed, as are the interpretations and equipment developments. The Sea Floor Properties Task Unit included bottom reflectivity, distribution of sediment ponds, Eastern Mediterranean sea floor structure, rock magnetism, heat flow geomagnetism and gravity reports. Summaries of activities under Advisory and Shipboard Data Processing Task Units are included. (Author)
