Description
Summary:The initial stage of lithogenesis of marine clay sediments is discussed. A special Atlantic type of bottom of the Arctic Eurasian seas is singled out. The distribution of chemical elements in the sediments is described. The concept of nonuniform lithogenesis is defined. The connection between the process, the life of microorganisms and hydrological regime in the water basin is established. The latter leads to conclusions on large-scale changes in the Kara Sea regime during the recent past. On the basis of the distribution of manganese and radium, the absolute speed of sedimentation and the stability of the variations occurring in the bottom during the first stages of lithogenesis is determined.
