STUDIES OF THE ANGULAR PROPERTIES OF VHF-AURORAL REFLECTIONS
Continuous recordings of the azimuthal dependence of the direction of incidence of auroral reflections in the 90 Mc/s band have been made at Kiruna Geophysical Observatory. Summary: | Continuous recordings of the azimuthal dependence of the direction of incidence of auroral reflections in the 90 Mc/s band have been made at Kiruna Geophysical Observatory. Both the Swedish FM-transmitter in Ostersund (87.9 Mc/s) and the Finnish one in Kemi (92.8 Mc/s) were recorded simultaneously. In the period from April to September, 1961 the Swedish FM-transmitter Vannas (88.5 Mc/s) has been monitored. The auroral reflections from the three transmitters were recorded with the same antenna - a five-element Yagi - which rotated automatically in azimuth at a speed of 69 degrees per minute. (Author) |
