Description
Summary:An attempt to calculate temperature changes of the upper 200 meter layer in vertical direction for autumn seasons of IGY and for the normal year. The wind stress and the heat exchange through the surface of the ocean and through the lower boundary of the layer are taken into account. The solution of the equations of motion and heat transfer is made by a numerical method on the electronic digital computer. The results of computation show that the heat conditions over North Atlantic in the autumn of 1958 were more normal, than in 1957 when a negative heat anomaly was observed in the Gulfstream system.
