Summary:This report is a compilation of technical data obtained only from reports prepared by the Commander, Antarctic Support Activities, and the Commander, U. S. Naval Support Force, Antarctica, for perations Deep Freeze 61 through 65. The reports are listed in the bibliography. Data from previous Deep Freeze operations are compiled in NCEL Technical Reports R-155 and R-210. The object of the compilation is to provide a ready referene for persons concerned with the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of equipment and facilities in the Antarctic. It is recognized that the information is historical and pertains to specific or limited sections of the south polar area. However, the sources utilized in compiling this report are among the first documentations of large-scale construction and continuing naval shore-based operations in Antarctica. (Author)
