Description
Summary:Identifiers: Whistlers.Audio frequency radio noise in the band from 0.5 to 15Kc has been recorded at Godhavn, Greenland since July 19, 1957. The equipment used was designed according to the IGY specifications. In the winter 1958-1959 it proved important to reduce the interference level because strong harmonics of the power frequency coincided with the frequency range of the observed chorus. The reduction in interference level was accomplished by moving the antenna further away from the ionosphere station. At the same time an increased sensitivity was obtained by using a transistorized preamplifier. The increase was of the order of 16 dB. The data taken from the start of the recordings and to the end of 1961 have been treated, and the occurrence of whistlers and the type of ionospheric noise named chorus as been studie . (A UTHOR)
