Summary:Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) has been monitored annually since 1985 in Estonia. With few remained pairs in the beginning of monitoring the population started to grow and reached 90–100 pairs level currently. Monitoring of Osprey in Latvia stared in the end of 1980’s. Than after a pause of more than 10 years in 2007 restarted the study of the species, monitoring and providing nesting sites protection. Current estimate of the osprey population in Latvia is 210–230 pairs. Breeding population monitoring activities include control of known territories and search of new territories. Known nesting territories are checked 1–3 times a year.
