Description
Summary:The sustainable development of rural Arctic settlements should be based on the analysis of not only tangible but also intangible resources of the area, the elderly population’s knowledge and historical memory of the architectural and planning environment of the settlement, as well as their emotions towards specific architectural buildings and places. This complex approach ensures the formation of resilient and friendly architectural and planning environment for the elderly community even in unfavorable areas. The results of an architectural and ethnographic study of intangible resources of the coastal settlements Tamitsa and Kyanda are presented as an example.
