Project Ploughshares, a peace group in Corner Brook, organized visits of members of Soviet fishing crews to schools and homes in Corner Brook. Students and residents in Corner Brook were, in turn, invited aboard Soviet fishing vessels. Corner Brook Project Ploughshares was, perhaps, the most active, community-based peace group in Canada during the final years of the Cold War.
