Summary:Within the years 1970-1973 a total of 820 eel individuals were checked for their health state. The eels were caught in water bodies (Szczecin Lagoon and lakes: Dąbie, Siecino, Czaplinek, and Lipiany) of a different level of pollution. Based on clinical, anatomopathologic, hematologic, and cytologic analyses, the range of exogenous intoxication was determined. The internal organs revealed symptoms of hemocytopathy with acute and chronic damaging inflammations, degenerative and necrobiotic processes prevailing.
