Description
Summary:The work is devoted to the study of landslide-induced tsunami in the area of the Sea of Okhotsk on the western slope of the Kuril Basin. Landslide areas, up to 2 km in size, are located on the North Hokkaido marginal plateau and near the Patience Ridge. Possible strong tsunamis generated by landslide processes in the Kuril depression, which represent a potential hazard for the eastern coast of the island, are considered. Sakhalin Island, where there is currently an intensive development of infrastructure related to the development of oil and gas fields. To assess the risks, it is necessary to carry out numerical simulation of possible catastrophic landslide processes in the Kuril Basin and tsunamis generated by these processes. In this work, such modeling was carried out on the basis of a solid-block segmental model of a landslide body.
