Summary:Article is devoted to herding reindeer, which is one of the most characteristic traditional economic activities of the indigenous peoples in Yamalo-Nenets avtonomniy okrug in Russian Federation. Described is economic benefits to indigenous peoples and benefits as planned agricultural activities. The article deals also with the traditional annual reindeer nomadic cycle in tundra and also tell about importance of nomadism to preserve traditional culture through an isolated nomadic way of life. Finally talks about ways of solutions to today’s most pressing problems of contemporary reindeer herding in territories of Yamalo-Nenets avtonomniy okrug.
