Description
Summary:This article provides a brief analysis of economic studies on the issues of the North and the Arctic, aiming to identify their key elements and future trends in this research area. The content of these studies has undergone significant changes, with positive developments such as prioritizing regulatory economics mechanisms as a research subject and providing a rationale for the technology modernization of production facilities located in the Arctic or other northern regions. However, there are several shortcomings, including the use of formalistic approaches to issues in territorial development and comparative economics. Of particular concern is the inadequate attention given to assessing the impact of climatic conditions on appreciation and risks. Currently, the revival of the leading branches of the Russian manufacturing sector with the participation of mining, metallurgical, and biochemical companies operating in the North is particularly relevant. Additionally, a mobilization approach in research and practice is necessary to renovate Arctic cities, restore agriculture in taiga territories, and manage healthcare.
