Summary:In 2020, the Rarities Committee of the Slovak Ornithological Society/BirdLife Slovakia reviewed 50 records, of which 46 were accepted in the category A and one in category D. Furthermore, one breeding record was accepted. One record of Lesser White-fronted Goose (Anser erythropus), one record of Sociable Lapwing (Vanellus gregarius), two records of Black-legged Kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla), one record of Pallas´s Gull (Ichthyaetus ichthyaetus), one record of Gull-billed Tern (Gelochelidon nilotica), one record of Great Northern Loon (Gavia immer), one record of Greater Spotted Eagle (Clanga clanga),one record of Booted Eagle (Hieraaetus pennatus), five records od Pallid Harrier (Circus macrourus), one record of Great Grey Shrike (Lanius excubitor homeyeri type), one record of Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator), two records of Yellow-browed Warbler (Phylloscopus inornatus), two records of Common Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita tristis type), four records of Rosy Starling (Pastor roseus), one record of Common Rock Thrush (Monticola saxatilis), and four records of Citrine Wagtail (Motacilla citreola), one record of Ortolan Bunting (Emberiza hortulana) and two records of Little Bunting (Emberiza pusilla) were the most interesting records in 2020. Rarities Committee accepted observations from the year 2020, but also some valuable observations from years 2007, 2016, 2018 and 2019. For example one documented breeding of Common Merganser (Mergus merganser), one record of Sociable Lapwing, one record of Long-tailed Jaeger (Stercorarius longicaudus), one record of Greater Spotted Eagle, one record of Woodchat Shrike and one record of Citrine Wagtail.
