| Summary: | This article refers to the feat of the Piloto Pardo made early last century, his performance shows so heroic virtues that reflect humanity chilenidad and act according to the values of the institution of the Chilean Navy. It is the first mission of theNavy in the Antarctic continent. The article is based on historical texts, statutes of the navy and the fact contemporary journals. El presente artículo se refiere a la hazaña del Piloto Pardo, realizada a comienzos del siglo pasado. Su actuación muestra, de modo heroico, virtudes que reflejan humanidad, chilenidad y un actuar conforme a los valores de la institución de la marina de Chile. Es la primera misión de la armada en el continente antártico. El artículo se basa en textos históricos, estatutos de la armada y revistas contemporáneas al hecho.
