Summary: | In 1975, Italian Archeologist found cuneiform tablets from a civilization so-called Ebla that lived between 2400-1600 BC in the Tel Mardik region of Syria. This discovery aroused great repercussions in the media and scientific circles. Some archaeologists have claimed that these tablets belonging to the Ebla Civilization belong to the patriarchal period and have a number of parallels with the Old Testament narratives, including the names of the Patriarchs. Another group have argued that there is nothing in the tablets to support Old Testament narratives. Somebody have tried to prove that the beliefs of the Ebla Civilization are the source of some beliefs in the Old Testament. Each groups argued that the Ebla tablets support themselves. Similarly, different opinions have been put forward about Ebla language. For somebody The Ebla Language is the Old Canaanite language, for anothers a dialect of Akkadian or an independent language. |
