Description
Summary:Uncolored engraved map. Relief shown by hachures. Rivers shown. Inset showing Bering Sea and Aleution Islands at 1:15,000,000. Accompanies Montemont's Histoire Universellle Des Voyages. Large Folio atlas. Not in Phillips. 1st page of ancient maps lacking. We can find no record of this atlas, other than the Sabin reference and the Oceanie map in Tooley Aust. Monin and Fremin did a smaller world atlas, offered by Hudson in 1988. These maps are large and impressive. They were published with Montemont's 46 volume History of Voyages, although Sabin calls for an Atlas of 22 maps, whereas this has 38 maps on 36 sheets. Maps are without color and bound in quarter leather brown marbled paper covered boards with "Atlas De L'Histoire Des Voyages" stamped in gold on the spine. Sabin 50113-4;cf Tooley Aust. p122.
