Description
Summary:Engraved hand colored map. Relief shown by hachures. Shows settlements, rivers, continents and islands in outline color (South America in full color), etc. Prime meridian: Ferro. The maps in this atlas use the gnomonic projection, which is called the "Central Projection" on the atlas title page and the map titles. This projection enables accurate great circle measurements of distance between any two places on the maps, but distorts shape, scale, and area. Espenhorst, J.
