Description
Summary:"A striking example of Gordon-Michael Scallion's 1996 doomsday map of North America. This is Scallion's only map to cover all of North America. Scallion' (1942 -?) Is a ,futurist, spiritualist,,and 'prophet' who predicted a series of cataclysmic astronomical and seismic events would occur between the Issue date of this map, 1996, and 2001. This map offers an exceptionally granular breakdown of Scallion's predictions for the United States and a newly extended timeline to 2012 - somewhat necessary as some of his predicted event were not occurring. The map North Americain full. It presents a topographical map overlayed with contemporaneous political boundaries and Scallion's predictions. These include three major seismic upheavals causing 'fractures' which, over the decade, would inundate most of the American West, including the Rocky Mountains. Other significant changes include the inundation of most of the East Coast and a significant widening of the Mississippi and St. Lawrence river valleys. The Great Lakes merge into a massive inland sea. The Pacific reaches well into Colorado. {We cannot help but recognize a similarity with the speculative 18th cartography of Guillaume de L'isle, Nicholas de L'Isle, and Phillip Buache, who postulated a massive 'Sea of the West' roughly occupying the same region, or even more curiously, the apocryphal Verrazzano Sea, which appeared on many 16th century maps of America, including those of Sebastian Munster.) Scallion's prophesies are outlined at right (along with a disclaimer), as well as in annotative text blocks throughout. Scallion's Dream-Prophecies: Scallion's predictions included a polar shift leading to the near total inundation of Europe, significant parts of Asia, much of European Russia, China, Japan, and South America. He also predicted Antarctica would become a warm, fertile land, Atlantis would rise from the sea (in 3 places), and the mythic Pacific continent of Lemuria would also emerge (in 2 places). Among his non-seismic predictions were a Holy War in the Middle ...
